Hey, I've been having an ongoing issue with my ram cards. I have a z390 Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard ( https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z39...-rev-10#kf ) and I have 2 x 8gb 3600mhz corsair vengeance rgb pro sticks ( https://www.newegg.com/corsair-16gb-288-...6820236551 ), plus an i7 9700k and a 2070 super. When I have my xmp profile on they cause a BSOD. I did lots of research on what was going on a year ago after building my PC and after updating my bios I was still getting the BSOD, so I just turned the XMP profile off and said I'd deal with it later. Well now I'm at the point where I want to try to make this work - tried turning the XMP on and again I had a blue screen. I currently am on bios version f11c and it looks like they have an f11n now - I don't even see f11c on the list anymore at this point. My particular model of ram is not on the QVL list and when I go to corsair's memory finder on their website - it also does not have my model as an option. Since reading more about my motherboard, I have found out that it is a t topology board - which from what I can gather, means it would be better with 4 cards rather than 2. I was interested in upping my ram to 32gb. I was originally thinking I'd just replace these and get 2 x16 gb cards on the QVL list.. however now learning that it is t topology - I am wondering if I should be going for 4 x 8 cards instead. The RGB cards that I wanted to have are not even on the list in a 2 x 16gb format. Would it make sense for me to just buy 2 more of the same cards and see if this runs better with 4 of the cards vs the 2 I have now, or is it insane to buy 2 more cards that are already giving me an issue? https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-...klink=true This product is 4 x 8gb 3600 mhz with a CAS latency of 18 as well, the only difference is that these come with 4 sticks instead of 2 and the sticks timings are 18-19-19-39 verse the timings my cards have which are 18-22-22-42. This product comes up on the corsair memory finder as compatible with my motherboard. So what makes the most sense here? Buy 2 more of the same to pair with the ones I have already? Buy 2 16 gb cards and just sell the ones I have? Buy the above link of 4 x 8 gb cards and again sell the ones I have? Steer clear of corsair and go with g skill? I'm also wondering if maybe 3600 mhz is whats causing the issue and if I'd be better off with 3200mhz, since it seems like the list of supported 3600 mhz setups has a lot less options or if I possibly need 32 gb instead of only 16gb to be running at this speed of 3600 mhz? When I look at the corsair memory finder it seems that the 2 x 16 gb sticks with the same specs and timings as my 2 x 8 gb sticks are on the list. I'm really just lost as to what direction to take this in at this point. I've also read a lot that Gigabyte has problems with XMP profiles in general so I'm afraid I could have this issue no matter what I do. I wanted to try to go in and overclock it manually since the XMP profile does not work, but I am very confused on how to do this in the gigabyte bios, and what exactly I should even be changing it to. I started watching a video, but it had an outdated BIOS version, so it doesn't even look exactly like mine and I have no experience in overclocking - though I am willing to learn if someone could give me a better idea of what I should be adjusting and to what. Please give me some insight on what my next steps should be. BTW I did an intensive RAM test on the cards a year ago and nothing unordinary came back. Update your bios once more, apply the XMP file, then proceed before adjusting the bios increase voltage from 1.35 to 1.4v.

In general, using four RAM sticks makes performance slower than with two. Configuring RAM is mostly your choice—two sticks are a safe bet for now, giving you room to upgrade later. Running RAM at 3200MHz is common; switching to 3600MHz usually brings only minor gains, and there are many speeds in between. Edited August 26, 2021 by Freakwise

I’ve checked more sources and found someone confirming that updating to f11n resolved their xmp issue, though another mentioned it could worsen it. I’m planning to try this today. Updating the BIOS might also help simplify things. I wasn’t sure which voltage settings to adjust, so your advice is really appreciated—I’ll give it a shot too if the BIOS update doesn’t work. Thanks!

Regarding the 3600 MHz, your switch sounds sensible; I’ll test it out over the coming week. It might be worth getting two 16GB cards at 3200 MHz or four 8GB cards if the upgrade looks promising.

It seems T topology works better with four sticks instead of a daisy chain, though the final speed you achieve likely still depends on your RAM, CPU, and motherboard. This might be especially true for older systems; once you go above 3600MHz, the performance gap is minimal and could even be considered a small margin.
