Purchased a 13600k on launch day to enhance my setup, which includes: Intel i5-12400 ASUS TUF Gaming B660M-PLUS WIFI D4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3600MHz CL16 DDR4 (CMK16GX4M2D3600C16). Prior to installing the 13600k, I upgraded my BIOS to the latest version from ASUS (v2014). Once the new chip was in place, the system asked to configure the BIOS settings. Enabling XMP II would have made the system non-functional. I had been using XMP II with the 12400 for months without any crashes or blue screens. I experimented by tweaking timing and frequency, adjusting it to 16-19-19-36 and setting the DRAM voltage to 1.35V, but I never exceeded 3200MHz with the 13600k. Now I’m at 14-16-16-30, running at 1.35V and 3200MHz without any problems. I haven’t pushed timings beyond that. It’s odd that my performance is limited to the supported 3200MHz speed of Raptor Lake. Have others faced similar challenges with an ASUS (or comparable) B660 motherboard and Raptor Lake architecture? I suspect the issue might be related to the BIOS rather than the chip itself.

Fixed: Updating with the latest Intel ME (16.1.25.1885v2) from ASUS resolved the problem. XMP functioned smoothly without any crashes. Stable performance for more than a week now. I hadn't considered trying this after the initial BIOS update, but it worked perfectly. Hope this assists others.

Thanks a lot, I faced the same issue you did. I assumed it wasn’t necessary and especially that it affected XMP negatively.

I faced the same issue when moving from a 12th to a 13th generation Intel processor. I couldn't reach speeds above 3200Mhz unless the motherboard was updated. Since this was an uncommon thread, I shared the information for others: TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 BIOS 0810 Intel Core i5 13600KF XPOWER Zenith DDR4
