Hi, I have a Ryzan 3600x in an Asrock b450m pro4 with a 2x8gb kit of Corsair Vengance RGB pro 3200mhz. The RAM is installed in slots A2 and B2 as the manual specifies. With XMP enabled, the system boots normally but shows no video output. I need to reset the CMOS to get proper booting afterward. This setup worked with a Ryzen 5600x and an Asus b550-plus board, so XMP should function without issues. I’m curious if updating the BIOS on the Asrock board could resolve this problem or if there’s another cause.
Updating BIOS to the latest version relevant for your CPU and/or memory enhancements would be my initial step. It's accurate that the 5000 series Ryzen offers superior memory handling compared to the 3000 series, especially with B550 MBs, and tends to be more selective about RAM brands. Consider starting with a lower XMP setting. I previously used 3600MHz on a 3700x with an Asus x470MB, but Kingston generally provides better compatibility with AMD systems.
I encountered issues when trying to run a 2600X (compatible with DDR4-2933) with XMP 3000MT/s RAM. Adjusting the CL/CAS parameters by two clock cycles likely resolved the problem. For the 3600X, which supports DDR4-3200, it might be worth lowering both DIMM CL settings by one cycle to test stability.
Late update: I finally resolved the problem by running the PC without xmp for some time. However, I encountered issues where the system would restart repeatedly while playing games—no crashes, just a complete reboot. Additionally, a pink screen appeared during boot-up. I updated my BIOS and fixed everything. Now I can use xmp without problems and all other issues are gone. Hope this helps someone later.
