if i don't enable xmp, i should boost my processor and rams to their full speed if necessary, otherwise they might need to be enabled. does xmp actually overclock the ram or just the processor? if not, then i have a few questions. i have an intel i7 8700 k, could you tell me how to overclock it? also, can i set it up for automatic overclocking when my games need it? thank you.

XMP serves as a setting where you simply turn it on, and after a restart the system will utilize the RAM at their advertised XMP rates. Intel claims this method is simpler than manually entering values in BIOS. If the RAM is listed as DDR4-3200MHz, it will only reach that speed when XMP is activated. JEDEC standards indicate that DDR4 frequencies start at 2133MHz, so anything above that is considered an overclock.

no i need to upgrade it and i have downloaded its file but i don’t know how to do that.
yes xmp works and can be enabled in the bios menu but i found some more xmp settings there i don’t know that those should also be enabled to enable xmp or just turning it to xmp will be enough to overclock.
i think my system is set on auto and it can overclock the rams and processor if needed.
details are:
intel i 7-8700 k
rog z370-e gaming board
corsair 3200 mhz memory...
now what do you say...please inform me about the bios upgrade procedure in detail as well thx.
