Hey there, friends. I just switched from a ROG z270 to a ROG z490. I tried setting XMP on the Z270 with a 6600K and it worked for boosting memory speed to 3200Mhz, but after some time the board stopped working completely—about 95% failed due to XMP. (My motherboard kept looping infinitely, flashing red then orange before restarting.) Now my Z490-F only lets me reach up to 2133Mhz. When I enable XMP again, the board shuts off and on twice, then restarts in the same pattern as the Z270 for several cycles, ending up at BIOS screen and asking me to press F1. I never really overclocked before; I prefer sticking to the preset settings just to avoid any damage. Anyone have a solution? I own an I7 10700KF, T-force Delta RGB 16x2, 3200Mhz MSI 3080, 850W MSI Gold (bought yesterday).

every time i restart and open BIOS it looks like XMP remains active and the CPU overclock is still turned on (AI optimized). however, when i enter the window the system restarts twice, then enters a loop with a red LED on the CPU and an orange one for DRAM, repeating 4 to 5 times before returning to safe mode at 2133Mhz.

It's strange what's going on. I thought I was doing everything right, like I did on my old Z270, but now it doesn't work at all.

I'll test it soon and wonder about the dangers if the RAM tuning fails. I don't want to lose those RAM components.

Enter a digit in the field and it will change to PURPLE or RED (yellow is acceptable). Click clear and type 'A', then press Enter.

Which box are you referring to? Are you using the same model on your Asus ROG Z490-F?
