Hi there, I'm trying to understand XMP settings better. When enabled, it adjusts various parameters—like my memory frequency going from 2100 MHz to 3000 MHz. I see suggestions to set BCLK back to 100 kHz and revert CPU settings, but I'm not sure why. My processor is an I7-8700 with 3000 MHz RAM, and I'm confused about the recommended speeds. Should I keep it at 3000 MHz or follow the advice? Also, why do some sources say non-K processors shouldn't exceed 2666 MHz?

B360, H370 etc. will limit speed to 2666. Z370 or Z390 supports uncapped RAM rates. Some budget boards may go beyond these limits but those are rare. For XMP, just turn it on. If stability issues arise, try alternative methods to boost RAM speeds—most work well in practice.

Breaking the rules implies doing something unintended, so having a device with higher RAM doesn't automatically justify it. What do you think?

If it functions, go for it. I wouldn't object—Intel's chipset guidelines are ridiculous.

Unusual glitches and shutdowns. If it isn't reliable, reset it to 3000 or 2933 MHz.

The memory is rated for up to 3000 MHz, but lowering it to lower frequencies (like 2933 or similar) can help avoid issues. Voltage and CAS settings should also be checked if needed.

The guidelines refer to reduced clock speeds on the H370 motherboard and related components. Certain H370 or B360 boards might support high RAM rates despite Intel's restrictions. A 3000MHz CPU speed is acceptable on its own.
