Hello! I tried to activate the bootloader for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (global version, AI dual camera). It seems the Camera2 API is disabled on this model, even though it works on other devices. Following the instructions from the tutorial you found, I connected the phone to my PC but couldn’t detect it. The guide suggested installing a USB driver, which I did using another tutorial. Still, the computer management app showed no device under Android, and the MI unlock app didn’t install the driver properly. When I tried to use the driver install feature, it just asked to connect the phone, but the process froze before completion. I’m confused because everything seems correct according to the steps, yet nothing works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I frequently faced difficulties unlocking the bootloader on Xiaomi devices. Using Fastboot or ADB was always challenging on Windows. I recall seeing some online advice suggesting a USB 2.0 port, which I didn’t have at my desktop. Trying it on my ThinkPad helped—using the driver from the Mi Unlock folder with admin privileges sometimes fixed the problem.

It functioned via a USB 2.0 connection, likely because the device lacks USB 3.0 support. Also, it didn’t connect through the side ports, so I resorted to using the rear ones. (This isn’t uncommon—I couldn’t even set up Windows that way)
