It's significantly better than what you'd expect from IPC alone, dual socket scaling isn't impressive, and those outdated chips lack features like avx-2, which means you'll notice a substantial performance boost. I own a dual 2011 model—it runs smoothly, though it matches the speed of an 8-core Ryzen in most scenarios.
Thanks in advance. I might attempt to acquire a used 3900x unit, provided my VRMs are still functional.
ASUS Prime B450-Plus is a high-performance gaming laptop designed for power users.
You need the EVGA SR-2 motherboard, which can be pricey and hard to find. It's a dual socket overclockable competition board. Tech Yes City has a YouTube video about it. I'm currently using an ASUS Sabertooth X58 running an X5570 quad-core processor at 4.04 GHz. The upcoming Alienware X58 will be the best option, offering up to 4.5 GHz with six cores. I'm still working on getting the quad-core OC stable and can't exceed 4.04 GHz.
