Xeon e3-1245v3 motherboard with RAM setup
Hello everyone, I recently replaced my HP Z1 G2 workstation with a custom-built setup. The first system I assembled includes MSI Gaming Plus, a Ryzen 3600X, GTX 1660, 32 GB of 3000MHz RAM, a 700W power supply, and two 27-inch Samsung curved monitors at 240Hz. I’m looking for advice on locating a compatible motherboard or identifying affordable options that support ECC RAM. Ideally, I’d like something similar to Elitedesk or Optiplex—budget-friendly, possibly refurbished or new, even for a 32 GB DDR3 kit priced around 1600 MHz, which is often discounted on eBay. The existing hardware remains in good condition, including the two 4GB ECC RAM modules, but I plan to upgrade it to 32 GB (four 8 GB sticks). My goal is to create another system for my cousin who has a powerful CPU that’s currently idle in this setup.
Not applicable to this CPU. Functions with standard DDR3. Multiple threads in gaming builds using regular RAM work fine. Not a new chip—it's a Haswell model. Obviously, if I had many OEM manuals I could check, but I don't. That’s why the question here exists. Appreciate the effort to clarify and the obvious point! Were curious if anyone knows whether LGA1150 professional boards support ECC.
