My latest Dell computer has arrived.

Could I connect an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 to my laptop in order to improve its performance? I’m running Windows 10 Pro.

Alternatively, would it be more advantageous to purchase separate computer components—such as a graphics card—using the same budget? And then install them within my laptop, creating a combined system?

If necessary, I would disassemble the console to achieve this. What components could I acquire and install in my laptop for the price of an Xbox One or PlayStation 4?

The only replaceable component in a computer console is the hard drive. The remaining parts are permanently attached. It would be impractical to attempt a replacement. This is similar with laptops, although additional memory can sometimes be added – that's generally the only upgrade option. A Thunderbolt 3 port on a laptop could potentially enable an external graphics card setup, offering a way to save money.

Is my inquiry clear?

Alternatively, considering that I have a 1080p television and potentially poor display quality, would upgrading my screen improve my gaming performance?

The only replaceable component in a computer console is the hard drive. The remaining parts are permanently attached via soldering, and it’s generally not worth attempting to replace them. This is similar with laptops, though additional memory can sometimes be added – that’s typically the only upgrade option. If your laptop includes a Thunderbolt 3 port, an external graphics card could potentially be used.

Could I connect an HDMI cable from my Xbox One S to a TV? Would that allow me to use the console in that manner? Is there any software available that could utilize my cell phone as a screen to display content from the Xbox? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! 😊

I can connect my Dell laptop to function as a screen. My Dell possesses an HDMI port, and the Xbox One S has two HDMI ports.

The Xbox indicates the following connections: HDMI output to a television, and HDMI input from satellite or cable boxes.

Computer screen connections (such as HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C/Thunderbolt) can only transmit video. The Xbox’s HDMI input enables video forwarding from devices like cable boxes, laptops, or PlayStation 4 consoles for ease of use. However, if you are seeking to integrate an Xbox with a PC to improve performance, that is not achievable.
