Hello, I purchased an i7 4820k because it was very affordable and I didn’t have much cash. For some reason, X79 boards are quite pricey, so I opted for one of these Chinese ones. After checking reviews, they seem to be decent, so I bought one. Today I installed the chip from a working system and connected it to the motherboard. It powers up, but there’s no display. The PS/2 keyboard lights up briefly but doesn’t respond, then the board shuts off after about 30 to 100 seconds in a loop. I’m unsure if the board is faulty, if the BIOS isn’t detecting it properly, or if it needs a flash. I’ve tried three graphics cards in different slots, changed RAM and installed one stick per slot without any difference. Added a speaker module, but it doesn’t produce any sound even with no RAM, which should trigger a beep. I also remounted the CPU cooler and performed a power cycle, but nothing changed. I usually do a full boot after each failure and hope for the best. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check which power source you're employing.

Hey, the Corsair RM1000 is working after installation, but the RAM slots are acting odd. I'm checking the drivers to see if that fixes the issue. It's showing 8GB total, but only one stick appears in DIMM info, while the other isn't. Also, I'm curious about the lock step and mirror modes for RAM.

Additionally, inserting any RAM into the other two slots will not result in posting.
