With an X570/B550 board paired with a new PCIe 4.0 GPU such as the 3080 or 3090, you might face USB stuttering and stability concerns. Created a fresh setup for my friend using an Asus TUF B550. He’s experiencing intermittent issues only a few times daily, lasting just a short period each time. The problem involves brief disconnections that cause the Windows “USB device removed” alert. It’s frustrating and not very satisfying. He’s switching USB ports from the front to the back, but it doesn’t seem to make a big difference. I’m hoping he’ll test a PCI-e 3.0 downgrade or install a USB PCIe card. I’m counting on Asus or AMD releasing a simple BIOS update that fixes it.
we all own asus tuff gaming x570 or the wifi version (11 total). none of us face this problem. some have 3000, some 5000 series...8 have gen 4 m.2's and the rest gen 3's. only two issues I've noticed. one involves my son's wifi version: the video source changed, then it locked up and stopped working. (mobo bios failed). The second case also had wifi issues after the windows install (he didn't diagnose it—just swapped the motherboard). I know three are using vr setups and usbs are fine, no problems. I'm really curious about this. I'll need to ask people in a few discord channels with new systems if they've seen the usb problem.

When I enable X16 PCIe Gen 3.0, everything works smoothly. It seems AMD might need to address this via AGESA or driver updates.
Asus Tuf x570 paired with 3950x and EVGA FTW3 3080. With PCIe Gen4 connection, during Teams use and screen sharing I notice odd sounds from my Soundblaster X G6, then audio disappears while the mic remains functional. With PCIe Gen3 I only experience occasional webcam issues.
I've encountered a comparable issue. I built the computer and USB connected properly. Windows and Discord stopped working with the microphone and headset audio was distorted. I changed drivers, tried a different front USB port, moved the cable to another header on the motherboard without any adjustments (headers 7-8 and 9-10), and even switched to a different USB 3.2 port. Still, the front USB problem persists. My system specs are Asrock X570 Extreme4, BIOS 1.6, Ryzen 9 3900X, Gigabyte Windforce GeForce 2079 Super OC 3x, Windows 10, and Samsung Evo 970 500GB M.2.
Join me partially. My setup includes an R9 5900x, x570 Aorus Xtreme, and RTX 3080 with Aorus Xtreme Waterforce WB. I'm running the newest Windows 10, using nvidia drivers version 461 and BIOS F31. When the PCI mode is auto or Gen4 enabled, the PC runs slowly—especially when sitting for extended periods on LED codes 07 and 97—and boot times are slow, with the NVIDIA logo lagging in the control panel. The GPU memory test shows a speed of 300MB/s, and it functions properly in Gen3 mode.
Same Problem Continues. Pressing screenshot in Discord causes the USB disconnect sound, RGB flickers, and the mouse pauses briefly. I can recreate this instantly in Discord screenshare. Occurs randomly in some games too. Extremely annoying and I’m concerned it might harm my hardware or interfere with my AIO’s cooling pump. MSI B550 Tomahawk BIOS v7C91vA4, released Nov 2020. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 3070, GSKILL 2x8GB F4-3200C16 Dual Channel, XMP2, Corsair Commander Pro, 5x ML120 RGB, H100i, AIO, HX650w Pro. I noticed a BIOS update but it didn’t fix the issue. C State off, no changes, PCI Gen set to GEN3 – problem resolved. O.o OK... Gee, GEN4 seems faulty, thanks.
