Hello, I aim to incorporate a second GPU and possibly an M.2 card while maintaining your 3080 at PCIe 4.0x16, not 4.0x8. The GPU you're considering is the 710 with PCI Express 2.0, and the SSD adapter is PCIe 3.0 x4. Would it be feasible to add the 710 without affecting the main GPU? If yes, can I also install the SSD adapter since SATA SSDs are quite expensive? You've already got one NVMe 4.0, two NVMe 3.0 M.2 drives, three SATA SSDs, and a HDD. CPU is the 5900X. Links provided for reference.
I just don't want to see the 3080 being forced to PCIe 4.0 x8 due to any motherboard constraints. I understand the three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots share bandwidth, so I'm not using them directly, but could the two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots also impact the x16 slots? To make it clearer, would this be feasible? Two empty PCIe 4.0 x16 slots are available on the 3080. A SSD adapter for PCIe 4.0 x1 on PCIe 4.0 x1 works too.
Which driver would you like to install? The GT 710 isn't supported by GeForce drivers after September 2021.
Does having a 710 processor allow you to install updated drivers for the 3080? Just needing 710 for multi-monitor support and running Netflix would likely suffice.
Well, it was a good learning experience, though without GPUs. At least I can find an SSD adapter now. Thanks all!
