X570 or b550
X570 or b550
I'm searching for a way to enhance my B450 motherboard for next-gen CPUs. I need a upgrade to either B550 or X570, focusing on built-in wireless WiFi. The options I've seen are the Aorus Pro AC, MSI B550 Gaming Carbon, and ASUS ROG Strix B550. I'm working with a budget of £220 and plan to use the R5 4600 or 4600X, with a Vega 56 GPU running at 64GB.
I believe the B550 isn't compatible with the second generation. A few X570 models might work, but it's not certain.
I wouldn't make the change right now. Keep an eye on the upcoming generation chips and check if your board can handle them, or determine if they're truly worth upgrading.
Consider the support your current B450 board receives for 4th generation. If needed, wait until you actually upgrade the CPU to improve compatibility. Right now, some board makers are focusing on specific 4th generation models due to intentional design decisions, such as MSI's approach with the Max series (updated July 10, 2020 by Fasauceome).
I'll wait to see which board from the list is the best for the next generation.
But that doesn't seem logical... if you need to modify the motherboard, you should wait until you know which CPU supports it and when those updates will arrive.
I'll wait it out and then check the board. If it's worth it, I'll look at the CPU.
