Hi, I had the same problem recently. My Z390 Aurus Elite motherboard with i9900K didn’t boot using just one connector. Switching to the Corsair RM750 helped because it has two 2x4 CPU slots. I’d recommend getting a PSU that supports this setup. Let me know!

Consider rechecking your post or maybe I should explain everything in simpler terms. One EPS with +12v: 9900kW + Aorus Master: CPU VR VIN: 11.713-11.814v Two EPS with +12v: 11.844v-11.938v. Hmm, what do you think? Do you really understand what a MOSfet does and how it works? If you know, you’d realize why the +12v line drops and why you didn’t reply with such a reaction. The drop happens because of resistance—more current means more resistance. Better cables can help, but you should design for the lowest common denominator, not just for cheap PSUs. I’ll share some advice. Don’t just copy quotes from people like Buildzoid saying “You don’t need a second 12v.” Just because someone has great gear doesn’t mean they’re always right. Did you know the original spec for EPS 12v was 235W continuous power? Not 336W—that’s the maximum burst allowed. And now some folks claim you can push 480W on one 12v? That’s risky—you’ll definitely damage the power connector. Back in the day, people understood power connectors better than today, when they’d fry 4-pin connectors by forcing 165W on them. They learned to use proper ratings instead of relying on guesswork. Nowadays, many just watch YouTube videos or read forum posts and think they know everything. A recent problem wasn’t about damaged connectors; it was with the r9 290X and its dual PCIE connectors split into two parts. The PSU handled it, but the cards started failing over time. Why? I located a socket on Digi-Key and reviewed its spec sheet. It lists a rating of 9 amps, which equals 432 watts at 12 volts. This means you don’t need additional 4 or 8-pin connectors for AM4 CPUs with standard cooling—drawing over 300 watts isn’t feasible under these conditions.

The original guidelines for an 8-pin EPS were about 235W continuous, but I can’t locate the exact document anymore. I shared the reference back in 2016 (between August and October) as I remember the context. At that time, the maximum was 336W burst. Now with all the discussions about power ratings and ports, it’s hard to recall accurately. Personally, I damaged my 4-pin cable by using 165W on a QX9650, since the P5WDH only had a 4-pin connector. I tend to err on the side of caution, even if an 8-pin can handle 165W each side without overheating. This wasn’t an immediate issue—it took over a year of continuous use on a 750W PC Power and Cooling Silencer before it happened.
