Recently I acquired a budget MSI x58 Pro and an x5650 Xeon, but my issue is trying to overclock the CPU using the switches on the motherboard. Initially, setting the base clock to 133 MHz worked well with some voltage adjustments. Now I’m testing at 200 MHz base clock and successfully boot into Windows, loading everything properly. It displays 4.00 GHz during boot and shows 2.66 GHz in BIOS, but when stress testing the CPU it doesn’t reach 4.00 GHz, only staying around 2.66 GHz from the Xeon. I’ve increased the voltage without success. My motherboard is locked at 20x Multiplier, and running at 3.33 GHz is fine. Stress test results are unclear. Can you help?

I checked what I could do to get X5650 working with MSI X58 Pro. Since I already had the same motherboard, I tried installing the CPU today and it booted without post or video. I found some articles mentioning that many users are using this CPU on this board, even though it's not officially supported, while others face similar problems.

Yes, I hadn't changed bios to default prior to that, which likely caused the issue.
