X5460 vs E5450
Hi.
I'm trying to figure out which CPU would perform better. I'm considering overclocking and wondering if the X5460 could match the performance of the E5450 despite its higher power draw and larger form factor. I'm aiming for a maximum of 4.00 GHz during overclocking. Additionally, I need to modify these CPUs for LGA 775 compatibility and fit them into my Asus P5Q Deluxe, which should work fine. I also have an OEM cooler that's not great, so I'd prefer a small overclock before switching to a better one. Thanks.
I would choose the E5450 SLBBM model. They're essentially the same chip, but the 80W version is more efficiently binned. I believe the MB VRM could push it even higher if that's what's holding things back. Since they're so inexpensive, shouldn't we get both?
