X470 Hero VII has some unusual problems.
I recently switched from my x470 gaming 7 wifi to the x470 hero vii because it would disconnect unexpectedly. The Corsair Commander is functioning properly on two separate machines, but on the hero vii it fails when I connect the Corsair Commander Pro via USB2 header. I also encounter a "USB descriptor failed" error with the USB hub device, or the system hangs at code 98 during boot unless the device is unplugged. When I leave anything connected to my Corsair ST100, it still hangs at code 98. The motherboard appears to reject any USB hubs during startup, though it works normally in Windows. Anyone have similar issues or suggestions?
Hi, I've tried multiple BIOS updates and am currently using a 5900x. The BIOS has reset repeatedly without any changes. I've checked all USB ports in Windows, and they're functioning properly. The only problem is that the system freezes during boot when the device shows the 98 code, unless it's unplugged. Also, testing a USB-C hub connected to my monitor didn't help, but plugging in a USB-C SSD worked fine. Commander Pro, ST100, and the monitor USB hub didn't cause any issues with the Gigabyte X470 gaming 7 Wi-Fi.
I just turned off the old boot mode and switched to UEFI only, but the same problem persists. For testing, I connected my stream deck to the ST100, which hangs during startup at code 98. It takes a long time to boot, while Windows recognizes the device correctly unless I disconnect and reconnect it. Using a USB extension cable for the Steam Deck works fine.
