X3D CPU new user, need some advice
Hello everyone, just installed my new 5500X3D. I learned to turn off PBO and disable SoC/Uncore OC Mode in the BIOS, and set Windows power plan to Balanced. Is this advice accurate? What are your thoughts? Also, I read that enabling a Negative Curve Optimizer (CO) in BIOS is recommended, but my motherboard model B450M DS3H doesn’t support that option.
PBO on the locked CPU does nothing significant, so you're free to leave it disabled. Whether you enable or not doesn't matter. You're aiming for a negative CO, which means lowering the voltage curve to reduce power usage at a specific frequency. I've set -30 across all my X3D chips. I haven't encountered any mention of the SoC configuration before.
You can get advantages from a lower voltage CO on any of the Ryzen AMD processors (and possibly others too). I should have noted I used -30 on my 7700X as well. I only had all X3D chips now, so I didn’t mention it. This setting makes the CPU operate at a reduced voltage than usual, which cuts power consumption and reduces heat production. For instance, it might aim for 5GHz at 1.4 volts instead of 1.5, if possible. If not, consider a smaller negative value.
