x370 upgrade process
Hey everyone, everything seems okay? I'm from Brazil and just bought a 3800x to swap out my old R7 2700. The CPU hasn't arrived yet. The issue is with the RAM speed—currently I can only reach up to 2966MHz on a Micron D die board. I think this is because of the 2700 series, but the 3800x should work better now. I'm worried about the performance drop and started thinking about an MOBO upgrade. But the prices are really high right now, and that MOBO I saw is three times more expensive than what I paid for my current setup. Would an entry-level X570 be a better choice than a X370 with better parts but less software? Thanks ahead and sorry for any mistakes.
I’d just stick with the 370x setting. The RAM performance might have some problems—perhaps voltage isn’t enough or the clock speeds are too low. Ryzen 3000 should handle it better, and 2933 is already decent. What speed are you aiming for? We’re near the end of the Ryzen AM4 upgrade phase, so I wouldn’t invest in a new motherboard right now, particularly at these prices. Save the budget for AM5 next year.
your motherboard is fine, just make sure to update the bios. ram frequency is mostly dictated by the cpu, not the motherboard, so you might have a nice surprise and the ram to work properly at its rated speed.
Hi, I upgraded mainly due to my monitor's refresh rate. I was aiming for 155fps and the 2700 gave me a bit of disappointment. I managed to get RAM at 3066mhz but had to adjust the voltage to 1.4V and change the timing settings to 18-20-20-40, which didn’t improve performance at all. I also increased the SoC voltage, but it didn’t make a difference. It seems the 2700 might not be the best choice. Thanks for your help!
