x370 Gaming Pro Carbon paired with a 3900X processor
Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my 1600 to a 3900x. I need details on VRM temperatures for this board. With my current setup, 4GHz OC and 1.45V VRM temps are around 50°C. I'm worried it might be worse with the higher voltage. Are there similar boards you recommend?
The 3900x on X370 seems fine, though the VRMs look strong. I should check some reviews before deciding.
That's correct. Focus on removing features rather than compromising performance.
The VRM should manage the load, though it's unclear how long it will last. I've been using an ASRock B450 Pro4 with a 3900X at default settings for two months without issues. I can't monitor the VRM temps directly, but the VCore on the 3900X drops more when the CPU is under stress compared to the 2700X. When idle, the 3900X CPU VDD spikes up to 1.51V briefly, only for a short time as observed with HWMonitor. The 3950X on an MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon shows similar behavior.
