You're experiencing an issue where the game launches in a windowed mode but doesn't switch to full screen. Try checking your system settings or the game's configuration options to ensure it's set to full screen by default. If the problem persists, consider restarting the application or consulting the game's support resources.

Using borderless gaming is a method to bypass issues. Launch the game, open the borderless window, tap the right arrow, and it will automatically switch to fullscreen whenever enabled.

I experienced the same issue in Overwatch before. The solution involved modifying the settings file. You can adjust the values in fullscreenWindow and FullscreenWindow to switch between them. Perhaps you could try that approach?

Is Teamviewer active on your system? It leads to various problems. Updated: Experiencing identical issues now. Includes significant FPS drops during cinematic scenes. Edited November 11, 2017 by DanielMiddletown

For the FPS drops I changed the GPU to performance mode in Nvidia settings. It looks like WW2 is still unevenly optimized for my setup. With a 1080Ti at 4K, large fire effects bring FPS down to about 30 (V-Sync is on). Otherwise it stays steady around 60fps. Some of the visuals feel very realistic. Opening the window doesn’t bother me much, since pressing Ctrl+Enter works each time (as long as I close Teamviewer).
