I just completed a build for a client. It was my first time using the 3600 with the stock cooler. I ran Ryzenmaster to keep an eye on temperatures. The side panel was off, and the CPU idled at 45°C. I applied CPU-z to put stress on the CPU. Within a minute, temperatures reached 89°C. I’ve used Wraith Spire many times for the Ryzen 1600, and temps stayed normal. According to Ryzenmaster, the CPU was using 88W during the test, while the Wraith Stealth is rated for 65W. I’m really disappointed with AMD here. This cooler isn’t sufficient even without overclocking.
Lol, after boosting the chip, it's already running at 88w—way hotter than the standard top P-state of 65w base clock. The cooler is clearly not doing much. You might want to get a Wraith Prism or check forums for someone with one. It could be a good deal if you can find it cheap, and it should handle up to 140w.

It's just increasing performance to its maximum. It might run a bit warm, but that's not a major issue.
If you spot a Prism, take it for yourself. Quirky, but they match your Phenom/Opteron Heat Pipe coolers perfectly. Secure it firmly... and keep it secret.
I tried several 2700x configurations using those coolers. Much more stylish than the stealth setup. Just a worn-out soda can with a fan added.
Still seeing similar patterns with those CPUs. Everyone is getting criticized for exceeding TDP limits, whether it's Intel or AMD. It doesn't seem to be as effective as expected. I didn't get great results with the coolers I tested—Noctua D9L was decent, but the Arctic Freezer 34 esports pair performed better.
Lol. I appreciate how you phrased it. It seems like an M-80 dropped into a pop can, right? Exactly what I thought. If you turned off the turbo features (switch to auto), the cooler actually performs really well... lol. No boost for you!
Not at all. My 2700X 105w model has shown it handling up to 160W on the bench. It’s de-lidded, with thermal paste applied. The IC is Diamond-grade. I’ve installed it in my HTPC cabinet and run a lot of cooling tests. Your concern about the 3600X with Prism seems off—maybe the mount wasn’t perfectly aligned?
