Would you like suggestions for a new laptop?
Hi friends, do you have any suggestions for a new laptop that fits these requirements?
Screen Size: I’m aiming for 13 inches, but 14 inches is fine. It should be small enough for travel.
CPU: I don’t need the newest models, but I’d prefer something with better performance if available.
GPU: This device will handle graphics-heavy tasks like rendering with FFmpeg. I’d like a dedicated Nvidia or Radeon card.
Ram: I want 64GB, though I’m not sure about 32GB on the soldered-in options, so I’ll keep an eye on future releases.
Power: I need USB-C power, as I rarely find AC outlets on planes. They usually have a USB charger instead.
HDD: I’d prefer something removable, but I’m flexible with type and size.
Any model, old or new, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Phil.
*How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums.
Ignore the link in the previous post, that's for desktop computers.

This form helps us suggest a laptop more easily, so we don't need to ask too many questions. Just copy and paste these questions into the thread, and we'll assist you in finding the right laptop.
1. What is your budget?
2. What is the size of the notebook...
Your budget is quite substantial, reflecting a company-level allocation. Your main priority is securing the appropriate tool rather than focusing on cost.
The notebook you're evaluating should not exceed 14 inches, ideally around 13 inches.
You prefer a screen resolution of at least 1920 x 1080, or equivalently a smaller size that matches your 13-inch requirement.
You require a portable laptop, not a desktop replacement.
Your power requirements are USB-C enabled, so you need compatibility with modern charging solutions.
You're interested in gaming on the device; please specify the game titles and desired settings for each.
Additional functionalities you wish to support include photo and video editing.
Storage capacity is flexible, but you should aim for as much space as possible.
If you have specific sites in mind for purchases, feel free to share links to Amazon, eBay, Newegg, etc.
You’d like the laptop to last approximately two years, as trends change quickly.
Regarding optical drives, you don’t need DVD or Blu-ray burners at this stage—though I still appreciate a Bluray writer for my rackmount setup.
Please mention your preferred brands and any disliked ones along with your reasoning. I’m open to suggestions, but I favor Lenovo (Thinkpad), Asus, Dell, and Microsoft.
Your location is the United States.
Additional notes: Battery life is crucial for travel, especially since AC outlets are scarce on flights. While I see a USB charger often, I currently rely on a Thinkpad P52 workstation, which is large and power-hungry. I need a compact, lightweight device. My current machine uses a high-performance CPU (14900K, 128GB RAM, Nvidia 4070). The P52 still manages basic tasks well for mobility. I’m seeking a strong yet portable laptop today. If you have options, I won’t miss them.
