Hey guys!
I just got a friend's build that includes:
i5 10400 (2.9GHz)
Asus Prime H410M-E
2 x Kingston 8GB 2666MHz
My current configuration is almost identical, except my CPU is 4590 (3.3 GHz) with Gigabyte H97-HD3
I mostly use Cubase 12 and various VST plugins, and I'm wondering if the newer system would provide more overall performance on my 4590?
I think I'm asking whether switching systems is really worth it.

Why not test the app on your friend's device and compare the performance to what you're currently using?
Your device meets the lowest specs the app needs, which means it should handle everything smoothly.

It's just that I have a lot of information and big plugins, so to really verify it I'd need to move everything. But based on your answers, it seems worth trying.

A 4th gen 4590 to a 10th gen 10400 (or later) shows a significant change for that purpose.
Keep in mind you'll have to perform a complete reinstall with the updated CPU/motherboard.
This will affect all your apps and plugins...

Under similar conditions, the i5-10400 offers significantly more processing strength compared to the i5-4590.
