Hi, I'm looking for the optimal setup to connect networked printers in an apartment with internet access. The building likely has a modem, a switch, and each unit has its own router for Wi-Fi and wired connections. You want a small office space (3-5 computers) to share a wide-format plotter and a color multifunction printer via the network while keeping other apartments unaware. Since we can't modify the landlord's equipment or bypass them, what’s the best approach? Thanks!

A straightforward approach is to move all traffic onto another subnet.

Add another router and assign it to a separate subnet. Modem connects to the first switch, then the apartment router, which in turn links to the second router with its own subnet.

That would be a good idea.

It's not advised to link routers together; this would cause double NAT. The apartment router should restrict access to the local network.
