Hello, I am planning on building my first PC with the AMD 7800x3d and MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk. I understand motherboards potentially ran at too high a voltage for the 7800x3d. When I used PCPartPicker it advised ' Warning: The MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor with BIOS version 7D75v13. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.' Tried to find online the voltages for the b650 Tomahawk but I can't seem to find the information on their website https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B650...cification Can anyone advise if the Tomahawk had issues with melting the 7800x3d? I plan on updating with the newest bios but I am not quite sure I understand how I would do that. Am I right in believing I put the motherboard and power first, turn on and update bios and then install the rest of the parts? Or should I be putting in the CPU, fan and everything else as well and then do the bios? Thanks for any time and help.

Mostly only ASUS experienced voltage problems but they were fixed in a later BIOS release. I’ve used the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI with an X3D CPU without any issues. There’s nothing to worry about. You can upgrade the BIOS without RAM, CPU, or GPU installed. Just connect the CPU EPS 8-pin power connector and the 24-pin power connector to the motherboard, insert the USB stick with the new BIOS into the labeled USB port on the back, press the BIOS button, wait until it stops flashing, and you’re done. You can also update the BIOS the same way once all components are installed—it’s simpler since everything is ready.
