Hey everyone, I just began playing Witcher 3. I’m curious about how open and fast the game is. Some sidequests require a certain level of progress, like in Witcher 2, and I’m wondering if reaching certain points in the main story keeps parts of the world reachable later. If I start talking to people about Yennefer now and follow the story, will I still be able to complete sidequests in places like Ransacked Village and Woesong Bridge?

You have the freedom to explore, but be aware of the risks involved. Have fun!

Most content remains available until the final chapter. A handful of side tasks disappear due to main story events, though few are affected. Some guides exist to help identify which ones to tackle. Additionally, note that earlier sessions didn't award experience for quests requiring more than four levels, which matters if you're aiming for maximum XP. Rumors suggest a patch might fix this, but details are unclear. My upcoming run is still several months distant.

The game includes moments where unfinished side quests disappear if you don’t complete them. It reminds players of these changes near key story points, and you’ll have the chance to revert. This occurs during a specific narrative event, but I won’t go into detail.

Some features aren't available right away. Those islands you reach around rank 30-40 weren't accessible initially. I've played the game a while back, so my memory might be off or a recent update altered things.

Eventually, you stop focusing on past sidequests. You’ll become too strong, the rewards won’t matter, and progress will feel minimal. Just keep moving ahead. There’s a lot more to tackle, so you might lose interest before finishing everything.
