Hey, you're thinking about getting two games, which is great! Since you're new to RPGs but curious about them, pick one that feels approachable. Start with the one that excites you most—either the first or the second—and enjoy the journey into the world.
I've enjoyed Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas and am currently exploring the Witcher 3. My preference leans toward the classic Fallout/Elder Scrolls style of play. The Witcher experience is deeply connected to its story, with the central quest always in focus; sometimes it feels like a long chain of cutscenes interrupted only by short travel or battles. In Skyrim, you can easily skip the main storyline—most side tasks are optional and don’t require fighting dragons or shouting spells. The Witcher 3 keeps you engaged with its overarching Wild Hunt/Ciri narrative, which drives much of the gameplay; many side quests and interactions become unavailable until you progress through the main plot. Playing as Geralt also limits certain role-play options. These differences aren’t necessarily flaws but reflect different design philosophies. Whether one game is better than the other is ultimately a matter of personal taste.
Check Fallout 4 availability, then plan for winter discounts and grab Witcher 3 during sales.
I question whether Fallout will be available for sale. Should it appear, it will likely be in limited quantities.
