Hey, I'm planning to upgrade my current setup and want to confirm if these parts will handle The Witcher 3 smoothly at 100fps. The specs I have are an i7-9700K, RTX 2070, and 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. Everything else is already installed. Do you know if it can run the game at that frame rate?

1080p is recommended, 1440p and higher are not.

1080p is definitely fine. 1440p seems likely as well, though you might need to adjust some settings. I'm also thinking about turning off hairworks or reducing their intensity since they're significantly lowering the FPS and making it less useful.

I need 1080p on ultra, but I won’t use hairworks. It wouldn’t be worth the loss in frame rate.

With those specifications at 1080p on Ultra and hairworks disabled, you're definitely able to reach 100fps.

I'll provide an overview, focusing on CPU and memory levels, which should be enough to reach 100fps.
GPU-wise
you'll need to be cautious; hitting 100fps will be difficult if you're using maximum settings. You might have to turn off HairWorks, especially at 1080p.
The RTX 2070 is a poor choice in this regard. I recommend waiting until December if you're planning a build.
For the R7 3800X, a better CPU option for the 9700K price point could be worth considering.

With those specifications, playing The Witcher III at 1080p can deliver a very fluid experience, often surpassing 100 frames per second. Adjusting the graphics to Ultra to High settings typically brings you to about 124 to 139 fps. By fine-tuning the graphics to maximize performance without sacrificing ultra-quality visuals, you can consistently hit around 144 fps. If you push everything to its limit—Hairworks, AA, all settings—you can maintain a steady 83 to 97 fps, averaging close to a smooth 90 fps. Adjusting Hairworks to just Geralt’s appearance will give you roughly 91 to 106 fps. Turning it off completely will drop you to around 97 to 112 fps. Keep in mind that performance will fluctuate in busy areas of the game, and in populated zones of TW3, you might lose 20 to 40 fps. Hardware usage will increase accordingly. The positive aspect is that even though FPS drops in certain regions, it stays stable and consistent when you explore freely. This gradual change in performance feels natural and doesn’t disrupt your gaming session.
