I reside in a 2800 sq. ft residence featuring a basement, main floor, and second floor. The Wi-Fi coverage remains strong wherever the router is positioned at a high point on the main floor near a window. Currently, I’m using a Netgear R7000 router with 25 devices connected, but internet speed has dropped significantly to 1gb/s. I suspect the overload from too many connections is causing the slowdown. I’d like recommendations on which router model would better handle such usage. Please advise.
Consider exploring a mesh network setup. Similar to widely used routers, this provides several access points allowing the workload to be distributed. Start by placing them in the optimal location for coverage, then add additional units above or in a basement depending on your space needs like a gaming area.
