I recently checked out wireless AC speed cards from pbtech, but none seem to come with Linux drivers in the kernel. I’m looking for a wireless, AC, PCIe option with open-source drivers available in New Zealand or affordable internationally—under $60 NZD. If it costs more, I need to consider tax rules or high duty fees before ordering.

Linux kernels starting from version 4.4 support each chipset with a page on Debian or Arch Wiki. The issue is determining which chip each card uses. This isn't about asking for help, just a precise inquiry.

It's a bit tricky, but Ubuntu can be quite challenging to ensure full compatibility. I tried the older version of the card, switching from Bluetooth 4.0 to 4.2, and everything functioned perfectly.

The Debian wiki advises using non-free firmware, but I prefer the Ath9k driver and want to switch to AC speed without relying on closed drivers. I’m concerned about updating my NIC during the process.

Linux Mint 18.1 (kernel 4.10.0-19) works fine with the Asus PCE-AC51 wlan card. It had been running before a few kernel updates, but there are still no issues!!!
