I have an ASUS RT-AC1200G+ acting as a hub from an ASUS RT87U connected via 1Gbps fiber. The hub must support multiple devices: a gaming PC, a PS4, an Xbox, two phones, and three laptops—though not all simultaneously. Gaming PC and PS4 will require the most reliable connection. I’m considering linking one laptop or PS4 to the router while keeping others wireless. This would affect WiFi performance? Or would using WiFi for everything remain stable?

If you connect the wired to both devices, your WiFi performance might be noticeably impacted.

It will enhance the Wi-Fi performance by connecting those gadgets via cables, reducing the number of devices using the same network.

Even though wired connections use more bandwidth, the WiFi remains functional because it handles fewer devices. Thanks.

It's challenging to utilize the entire 1 gig of fiber, even if possible. A solid router should include QoS features to prioritize traffic and prevent other devices from slowing things down. However, since Wi-Fi operates over a shared channel, only one device can transmit at once, so minimizing the number of connected devices can help improve speed.
