He uses Windows 8.1 on numerous everyday computers, including his office setup and portable device. Windows 7 remains a solid operating system, so why switch when the advantages are minimal?

Consider purchasing Windows licenses only when necessary. I believe Windows 7 offers solid stability and is a reliable OS, even though it's relatively recent. Instead of buying an upgrade to Windows 8, think about upgrading to Windows 10 once it becomes available.
