You're considering installing XP Pro SP3 on your Dell without internet access, which means you won't be able to activate it online. It depends on whether the software requires activation through a network or if you can activate it manually via the phone. Check the installation instructions for specific steps.

XP now has a secret code that works offline. You're free to use it repeatedly as needed.

I never needed to turn on XP. Just inserted the key during setup and it functioned fine—no mention of activation or internet issues. I even replaced my original SP1 disk from 2004 with a new SP2 one, and the key still worked perfectly.

From XP onward, you needed to turn it on, remembering that MS was trying to reduce OS piracy. It was a bit of a story—I think. You could use a day-one key on an SP3 disk and it would still function well because it was just a service pack. However, I’ve faced activation problems before.
