Hello,
I own a Windows XP system that I rely on for running old software. It hasn’t been connected to the internet for quite some time and has been functioning well. Recently, when I powered it on, I experienced strange issues: a distorted screen, lockups, occasional login failures, frozen mouse, and even monitor shutdowns.

I suspect this isn’t due to a virus since the machine has been offline for years and I don’t transfer files to it regularly. It seems isolated. I’m trying to restore from a backup but can’t reach that option before the computer freezes. Could someone help me understand what’s happening?

I have been checking and think the issue might lie with the graphics card. How can I restore the standard Windows XP built-in graphics card/software (since the current one fails and powers off quickly)? Should I also switch to another connection point?

no idea because you didn't specify your requirements
typically just take out the GPU and connect the monitor to the motherboard's output port
