I struggle to match the mods or cooling techniques that use drivers, shunts, etc. I’m okay with just the cores if I get help getting it optimized. It’s all set for maximum performance and the results will be even better. But everyone has their own approach.
I recently purchased the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme with an i7-3930K @ 3.2GHz and 4GB RAM for $210. I'm checking if this processor will perform well or if upgrading is necessary. I believe XP would mainly use around four cores, and most games should run on a single core—so the setup seems likely to be: Thermaltake Tower 900 Mb: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme (no M.2 yet) CPU: i7-3930K currently GPU: EVGA GX 960 4GB (still no PCIe) PSU: Corsair CX750F RGB, 750W RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR DDR3 2GB TR3X6G1600C8D 1600MHz (with RAM WBS) CPU overclock: Raystorm Rads: 2x 420mm fans, probably an Artic 120mm or another Argon fan, SSD: 120GB Pump: D5 pump with Swifty Top and I'm undecided on the replacement I'll log this later.
