But there is one small problem, windows is associating the master drive as the xp partition, not the windows 7 partition

Create a bootable USB with the Windows 7 installer. You should be able to find it on Microsoft’s site using your license key.

Make sure you installed Windows 7 before Windows XP. (And what makes sense in 2021 is that you’re using XP.)
