Facing numerous problems with my Linux folding setup, I’m giving up and accepting the limitations of Microsoft. My machine comes with an OEM key for Windows Vista Business—can I activate it that way? I don’t have the original hard drive. I received around ten Core2Duo workstations from school, and they clearly took the drives from them. Additionally, can this key help me get into Windows 7?

Vista works well as long as the motherboard remains consistent.

I don’t have access to current torrent sites, but you can look for unmodified ISO files on trusted repositories or forums that specialize in legal downloads. Always verify the source to ensure safety and compliance.

The official Vista installers on Digital River were all versions installers that used the product key to decide which specific version of Vista to install. If you skip entering a product key during setup, you must select the desired version—just ensure you provide a valid key afterward, or you’ll see warnings like “not genuine.” Make sure you choose the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version based on your hardware. It seems you have a 64-bit CPU, so I’ll investigate and try to secure a suitable .iso file. Regarding upgrading Vista to Windows 7, that won’t be possible. EDIT: It appears these files are difficult to locate now.
