I noticed some changes made during the Windows update. Since nothing in the restore tools helped and the issue resurfaced after a fresh install, it might be related to the hardware setup. The specs you mentioned—core 2 quad processor, DDR2 RAM, etc.—could be contributing factors. I'm unsure if the problem is tied to the Windows version or the old components. Could you share more details about the system configuration and any recent changes? This will help determine whether the update itself is causing the issue.

In repair mode, you should see choices to remove the latest Windows Update, a feature pack, and another option. If this isn’t working, there may be an issue.

It took some time to figure out the problem, but the system reported no updates in the past ten days (that’s an odd restriction). I attempted to remove the latest updates last night, but it kept trying to install them, preventing the uninstallation. It seems the app crashes during the update process. EDIT: Appreciate your quick reply!

I'm feeling quite bored and almost ready for bed... 01:18 here. It seems the timer works a bit differently on unsupported hardware, which is frustrating. Maybe save a backup manually before updating next time—it's easier that way. Is this about a new feature? Updates can take a long time on older systems.

It was just a new release. I didn’t consider saving a backup because it was a clean setup. Smart move.
