Windows update issue reported. System fails to boot.
Hi everyone, I’m facing problems after updating my BIOS. Booting into Windows stopped working—either it freezes on the ASUS screen or attempts repair mode and then freezes too. Using a USB with a WIN11 installer caused similar freezing before it could even start. I moved my SSD to a new system and everything functioned normally. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 5500, GIGABYTE Radeon Rx 6500 XT, 2x8GB RAM at 2666 MT/s, Asus B450M-A motherboard, Windows 11. I’ve tried clearing the CMOS, flashing BIOS updates (4401, 4641,3211,4204), and reseating RAM. What else could help?
Updating the BIOS usually resets your BIOS configurations. You might need to reset settings so Windows boots properly. Did you skip steps like disabling secure boot and manually install Windows 11? With secure boot now active by default, this could be a common issue. Have you tried booting a Linux distribution from a USB (such as Linux Mint) to check hardware functionality? Running hardware tests in Linux is another option.
