You're experiencing an issue with Windows updates that won't resolve itself. The troubleshooter didn't help, so you may need to try other methods like checking your internet connection, restarting your PC, or using a different update source. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

It's tough to say with certainty. If I had to guess, I'd think the update service isn't active or turned off. Open the start menu and type "services.msc". Check for any entries like Windows/Microsoft Update (the exact name is fuzzy), and verify they're running—there might be several...

Tried restarting the system? Check if Administrator CMD is available and run sfc /scannow.

I tried a quick scan but didn’t locate anything. Would you like to reboot? Are you thinking of restarting the PC? First, I’m impressed you know this all. Thanks a lot! Do you do this professionally? Also, how should I turn them on? I couldn’t find instructions when I clicked on startup options—something shows as automatic (delayed start) or manual. Which option should I pick?

Click the right mouse button. A context menu will appear with choices to launch or activate it.

When you click automatic, it tries to apply but fails to load anything properly. After that, clicking again disables it once more. The issue seems linked to a lack of admin privileges—you had to open as administrator before changes took effect. Restarting your PC now causes the screen to go black unexpectedly. What’s happening?

Showing a driver problem. You might attempt DDU and then reinstall it. If you decide to reset anyway, just proceed with that.

These two issues you're now having don't just happen on their own, I'm thinking there is something larger going on.
