I'm experiencing an issue where a Windows Update altered my audio settings. It changed the default color scheme to light and likely disrupted other configurations I made years ago. Now, similar problems resurface after I modify Windows to fix them, making everything feel as if it's reverting back to its original, less desirable state—like being forced to reinstall Edge against my will after completely removing it and wiping all traces. It seems the OS is interfering with audio functionality unexpectedly.

The issue seems to affect many users with the same motherboard and CPU. An app named NTlight is designed to address this problem, though it might stem from a settings configuration. If not a hardware fault, you may need to revert changes or resolve the setting. Updated February 4, 2023 by Bombastinator

I think the first time it happened was due to a MOBO problem, like audio dropping or connecting issues. Turning off extra settings in sound worked perfectly. Recently I went back to the earlier Windows 10 version, and the problem disappeared. Removing updates didn’t help since it was a completely new build. Fix came from Windows Update.

It seems you're experiencing a rollback to a previous version with old configurations. This can happen during Windows updates, and while it's not uncommon, it may occur even after another update. You might be able to revert just the settings, which could resolve the issue. Consider taking a backup before proceeding.

I believe it’s best to skip the update. I don’t feel like tackling this again. Right now it’s enough.

It might refresh automatically if you leave it alone. You can verify that.

It's been paused for a while, probably months. There was a situation where we had to get permission for something entirely different, similar to the "Creator's Update" a few years back. If it gets urgent, I might give it another shot.

Ironically I managed to reassemble my machine again, and suddenly sound problems appeared. It seems the cable might be faulty—maybe I accidentally tampered with it, but as a modern device, such issues should affect many users. Edited February 5, 2023 by Bombastinator

Sure, I've reviewed every step if you haven't found a solution yet. It seems like connector corrosion might be the issue.

It would be straightforward to verify. Such things are typically quite noticeable.
