Hi All, Tried everything I can think of. I am on a GPD win max 2 2021 or 2022 version. Windows 10: Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5487) My start menu does not work when I hover over and click on it. my start menu does not work when i simply press the windows key. Some windows functions work, for example Win+E or Win+L work fine but Win+D does not. Other symptoms, being in Explorer, and right clicking "Properties" on this PC does not bring up anything. I have restarted PC, restarted Explorer, updated AMD drivers, run commands like: sfc /scannow DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth When I go to try and update, in control panel System and Security: Theres no mention of Windows update, Commands such as:ms-settings:windowsupdate dont start and give error: ms-settings:windowsupdate File system error (-2144927436). Just Run Control Panel > System and Security > Security and Maintenance: Automatic Maintenance, Maintenance in progress. This has finished no change. Any suggestions to save me the ball ache of reformatting.

Starting the system check now: scanning for issues on C:\Windows\system32. The process is underway and will require time. Initial verification is complete. Windows Resource Protection detected some corrupt files, but couldn't repair all of them. For online fixes, refer to the CBS log at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. If you need offline assistance, the provided log file will contain details.

Sure, you'll need to execute the DISM command, I believe.

I've attempted it before, but it gave an error. I'll try again and share it here.

So: Execute command in C:\Windows\system32 with DISM tool. Check health of deployment images. Tool version 10.0.19041.3636 is available. Image version 10.0.19045.5487 is also present. The component store can be repaired. Operation finished without issues. And: Error encountered at 0x800f081f – source files missing. Use the "Source" option to define required file paths. For details, refer to the Microsoft link provided. Log file stored at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

The installation files are available for download from the Microsoft site. You can use a standard repair tool like DISM if you're unsure about the process.

Begin by entering troubleshooting mode and perform three boot crashes by halting the system during startup. Once inside, execute the SFC /scannow command in the CMD prompt to check for issues.

Updating on whether a resolution is needed later. Switching to safe mode and executing DISM commands plus SFC /scannow didn't help; the error persists. It seems the issue arose when using the installation media, but once files and apps were preserved, everything worked again. I attempted a reboot and all repair options, but they failed. The fix came from installing Windows while keeping files and applications intact.
