This setup is ideal for a straightforward Joomla website. I haven't tried any operating systems before—my experience includes Windows Server 2008, 10, 7 and XP. Which platform would work better for hosting a Joomla site? I prefer using XAMPP or WAMP, so I'm leaning toward Windows 8.1. The environment will run as a virtual machine on my portable SSD.

For a test purpose, I could install a Linux distribution and set it up.
