Hello, I'm working with a Windows Server 2016 home setup that also functions as a media center. I created an account which instead of using the Explorer shell launches Kodi, and it's now operational. I turned on the sound services and turned off all power-saving features, which caused the serial buses to shut down. The issue I'm encountering is that when the machine starts, sound works normally. Occasionally, during random moments, it stops. If I exit full screen, background sounds reappear sometimes. Also, when Kodi is running and Chrome opens, the sound disappears if I switch between them. If fullscreen is active, exiting and re-entering causes the loss of audio. I'm using an Intel HD Graphics 4600 (I5 4430) and connecting via HDMI to a TV through Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3. In the Sound Panel, when I click Test to check output on the TV, nothing happens—no sound, no visuals. It seems the test is not functioning properly. I'm using about 1GB of RAM for graphics and don't know why this problem is happening. Any suggestions?

It might stem from issues with Kodi and Windows Server, or possibly your audio equipment. Windows Server isn't designed for multimedia work. Does this occur with the same device but on Windows 10?

Check for HDMI signals or 3.5mm audio output from the HDMI cable.

Have you explored using different cables?

I hear everything clearly, but my audio cuts out during specific actions on the PC. It seems the cable isn't the problem.

I'm relying on the built-in graphics card, as there isn't another supported by WS2016. I should consider purchasing one...

the GPU shouldn't be the issue because HDMI is just container for the audio And most Intel graphics are compatible with Windows Server I'm guessing if the cable is fine then it's the driver audio. What driver are you using it at the moment? is it from realtek or from windows driver?
