That's interesting, Edge does offer an 'Import from another browser' feature that can bring your Favorites and Passwords from Chrome along with it. It also supports syncing across platforms like Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and even Mac. Chrome lacks a built-in adblocker, but ABP (Adblocker Plus) is available for Edge as well. I've been using Chrome for about ten years now, including doing a lot of Unix-related work, so I sync it on my Linux desktop too. Previously, Chrome and Firefox provided superior developer tools compared to Edge. The only limitation is that Edge runs as x86_64 Linux under WINE, but overall it remains a solid alternative to Firefox and Chrome.
Edge improves gradually, but I personally don’t enjoy it. I’m accustomed to Chrome and favor Google services over Microsoft’s. (With the exception of Chromebooks)
The only way to keep the fire going is version 1803. Skipping a new setup with a Micropenis account means you’ll have to answer security questions for your login. It won’t let you proceed otherwise—it’s strict. If you don’t use an MS account, you’re stuck. You’d either log in with a M$ account and be fine, or face serious consequences with a pole up until next Tuesday. I’ve installed PCs at work almost every day without MS accounts, which is really frustrating.
It seems quite odd when comparing the issues with Google and Microsoft, as they appear similar in many respects.
Ensure you have the April Update installed. Skip it if your account lacks a password or you rely on auto-login through netplwiz. After an upgrade without a clean install, it may prompt you to set up the application later (assuming you have an MS account) following several restarts and within days. It was first introduced 2-3 before the last Insider Preview release, though Microsoft didn't reference it in their official blog post about the launch (unless you missed that section).
I've been operating my laptop for a week now, with a model number of 1803 and a Microsoft account connected. It hasn't prompted me to set up a PIN despite several restarts caused by a Bluetooth problem. I don't remember seeing the setup prompt during the recent update, which feels like a long time ago.
