Consider looking up reliable sources on safe methods to remove startup items from Windows. Increasing RAM is suggested as a long-term fix.

Join the Freak Windows community, adopt GNU/Linux. Use ChrisTitusTech's debloat tool. I’m skilled at optimizing Windows performance. Feel free to message me for in-depth assistance.

What kind of CPU are you looking for? Possibly a Celeron, or maybe something better like Celery.

Let the scan complete? Continuously attempting to halt its progress only complicates matters, since you've clearly faced this issue before.

I've attempted this, but keeping the windows idle causes it to continuously run various tasks and consume resources.

You're on the right track with the storage options and SSD. I understand you're seeking a workaround for antivirus software so you can run Windows smoothly.

You don’t regularly use the 12 GB storage, yet performance can drop because of background processes.

My PC specs are: Core i7-3630QM with Nvidia GT 630M, 12 GB DDR3 (256 GB SSD total, roughly 170 GB used), and it feels like it's around ten years old. It runs smoothly most of the time, but occasionally it freezes for about thirty minutes at a stretch.
