I improved my PC some time ago and now I have an RTX 3080 and an R7 5800X. Over the years it became quite cluttered, so I decided to reset it. After resetting, I reinstalled my usual programs but felt something was off. In Fortnite Creative I usually achieved around 900-1000 FPS, now I only get 500-600 and in matches it's even worse—can't maintain a stable 200 FPS. I used MSI Afterburner to lower the temperature of my 3080, but since Fortnite is a CPU-heavy game, it shouldn’t have such an impact. In Cinebench R23 I got the same score, suggesting the issue might be with Fortnite itself. My friend has the same CPU but a weaker GPU and still manages higher FPS. Please help!
Assuming that's not a typo, I am telling you - you cannot tell the difference between 500 and 1000 FPS. You cannot, absolutely not. I don't even believe that you were getting 900-1000 FPS at all. If you magically were, you don't want that - that's wasted electricity. Frame rate being limited down to a few hundred looks exactly the same at being at a thousand, but it uses far less power. It's utterly pointless. Assuming this nonsense is true, it's likely because it's being frame limited on purpose to save you from wasting energy. Did you install your graphics card drivers from the nVidia website?
I downloaded the drivers through the nvidia app, but it doesn’t seem like I’m getting 500 fps instead of 1000. In actual matches it struggles to maintain a steady 200 fps and keeps dropping. Before long, I could manage about 400 fps in games, so it didn’t bother me much.
Estimated performance depends on your setup and settings. With a 5800x resolution and 3080p, you might reach about 300fps in the best case, which is roughly 1080p at lower resolutions. If you just installed it, the game may cache content automatically—checking the installer for updates can improve stability when textures are updated. Generally, 200-300fps is realistic on typical hardware.
The site seems to be quite low quality based on what I understand. You might want to look for other benchmarks on YouTube to see higher FPS numbers. Also, it’s clear that even though my friend has a less impressive build, they’re improving their FPS and I’m able to maintain around 200 FPS in games while they hit 350 to 400.
