Did your laptop include a recovery disk? Was that erased as well? If not, you might reinstall Windows 8.1 and then upgrade. You could attempt to recover your formatted data using some software and then use Key Finder to locate the Win 8.1 activation key, install the 8.1 version, and proceed with the upgrade. If your device originally came with an OEM key finder, it should still work even in Windows 10.
I tried a version from the holy book called TORRENTZ and it worked! Now reformatted and ready to use again, lol! I’ll get a Win 10 once I have the money, but don’t worry about Gates until then.
